Autumn Leaves, Kombucha Please!
Autumn has finally arrived here in Massachusetts. You can tell because there’s pumpkin spice in the air and even more pumpkin concoctions up and down every grocery chain. What, did you think we were going to mention the leaves changing colors or the weather getting colder?
Autumn is Brewmaster Ryan’s favorite season, as there’s a plethora of activities and events to take part in with friends and family. Pumpkin picking and pie making are a staple in many households. It may seem nauseating the sheer amount of Fall related products there are, but they do capture the essence of what it means to be in Autumn.
And while pumpkin spice and other Fall flavors are no longer limited to just coffee syrups and a select number of candies (commonly) like many years ago, there have been some unique twists and inspirations today. Let’s take our kombucha for example! We’ll discuss our Autumn kombucha lineup below.
Bucha Bros, LLC is One Year Old!
It’s been an incredible year for us so far; our brand has sent ripples through the local towns as people recognize us through local farmers markets and events, we’ve found the best patterns in our brewing process to make the best available product, and we’ve met countless friendly individuals who enjoy our small-batch kombucha and come back for more!
We also turned one year old on October 1st! It may feel like we’re just a newborn and have hardly scratched the surface of what it means to be an independent kombucha business, but we’ve grown and evolved tremendously through the course of the year. And we’ve enjoyed every bit of it, especially the positive interactions we have with our customers, because at the end of the day, it’s them that keeps us going. So we’d like to sayโฆ thank you!ย
Into year two, we’ll continue to grow our business, broaden our horizons in terms of markets and flavors, and brew the best possible booch; interested in trying something savory or even spicy? What about a sweet popping boba booch? The possibilities are infinite! Without further ado, we present to you our Autumn Kombucha lineup: Cran Apple Pie, Spiced Pumpkin Pie, and Maple!ย
Autumn Kombucha Lineup: Cran Apple Pie
Apples. We love โem. Sweet and delicious, and perfect in a pie, as a beverage, or even sauce. We can list a dozen varieties and there’d still be more kinds of apples. Another fruit that belongs in the Fall are cranberries, those tart red berries that work well as a juice and a jam, and even blend well in a spiced cocktail. We’ve decided to pair the duo together for a sweet and tart booch with a bit of warm spices to commemorate the feeling of Autumn.
For our Cran Apple Pie, we use organic apple and cranberry juice, and a blend of organic spices including cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, lemon peel, and fenugreek to deliver a delicate balance of sweet, tart, and warmly spiced in our cold second fermentation of kombucha brewing.
For the color, we decided to go with a dark red, as both cranberries and apples are red; simple enough, right? As you find yourself walking through your local apple orchard, or perhaps attending a Fall festival on a cool Autumn day, we hope you’ll enjoy the delicious health benefits of the booch that is our Cran Apple Pie!
Autumn Kombucha Lineup: Spiced Pumpkin Pie
What has to be a no-brainer of a Fall flavor would have to be Pumpkin Pie. And we don’t just mean โFall Spiceโ. Too often we find ourselves intrigued by Pumpkin flavored [place retail staple food here], popcorn for example, only to be disappointed that there isn’t any pumpkin in the ingredients! We’ve bought ourselves a bag of lies! And any “artificial flavorโ adds insult to injury. Pumpkins are good; in a pie, ice cream, roasted as a side dish, and even soup! Ever tried roasting the seeds? Delicious. The same can be said for Pumpkin kombucha.
For our Spiced Pumpkin Pie booch, we use real organic pumpkin puree and the iconic blend of organic spices that are nutmeg, allspice, cinnamon, and clove that make the pumpkin spice we’re all familiar with.ย
For the color, orange was an easy pick since pumpkins are very much orange in color, at least the majority of them. When you sit in the hayride on your way to pick the biggest pumpkin to later carve with friends or family, we hope you enjoy a cold glass of our Pumpkin Pie booch.
Autumn Kombucha Lineup: Maple
A flavor we’ve never seen done in kombucha before is maple! The absolute sweetness that is maple is a staple flavor in Autumn, both over pancakes, shaved ice and ice cream, cookies and other pastries, and mixed with spices. There’s always someone selling maple at the farmers markets we attend weekly. We decided to take a shot at a maple booch, and we’re glad we did.
Our Maple kombucha is brewed using organic maple syrup and a pinch of organic fenugreek powder. Maple syrup adds a bit of nice sweetness to the tangy taste we get from kombucha, but why fenugreek? This special seed actually smells like maple! And with the right conditions fenugreek can even taste like maple as well. Together, the pair make an amazing combo.ย
For the label, we decided to go with a light brown to match the color of maple. As you decorate for Autumn, the spooky season of Halloween, or even the season of giving thanks, we hope you’ll take periodic breaks sipping on an ice-cold bottle of our Maple Leaves kombucha, happy decorating!ย
Out with the Old, In with the New
As we move into our second year, we’ll be making positive changes. Our kombucha lineup will be changing as well. We’ll be moving away from our Springtime lineup that included Honey Chamomile, Cardamom Pear, and Blueberry Lemon. We’re sad to see them go, but there’s a chance we’ll bring them back next year!
We will be keeping our summertime lineup of Hibiscus Grape, Strawberry Rhubarb, and Blackberry Lavender to go alongside our Autumn kombucha lineup. This keeps six flavors in the rotation, and we hope you give each one a chance! We love crafting these flavors for everyone and especially love all the positive feedback from our loyal customers. So once again, thank you, and happy Autumn! As our motto goes: In gut we trust. Cheers!
